Ghost 6.0: Social Web Distribution and Native Analytics

Ghost 6.0 launched 4 August 2025, bundling social distribution, first-party analytics, and a clearer deployment roadmap for the next decade of independent publishing.

ActivityPub and the social web

Publications can join the open social web: readers on Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, and compatible clients can follow, like, and reply—adding discovery loops email alone cannot replicate while you keep your domain and member graph.

ActivityPub connects long-form publishing to fediverse-style network effects.

Native analytics

Cookie-free analytics unify web traffic with newsletters and memberships, filterable by public visitors, free members, and paid subscribers. Self-hosters can attach a Tinybird key; managed hosting includes hosted analytics on eligible plans.

Theme and ops notes

Ghost 6 targets Ubuntu 24, Node 22, and MySQL 8, with Docker Compose documented as the forward deploy path. Theme authors should validate against GScan for @site.locale, social_url, kg card widths, and page visibility flags. AMP support is deprecated.
